A New Venture Begins

17/11/2025

It started with a lady contacting me urging me to pay her to market A Will of Deceit. My instinct was to say ‘No thank you’ but something in her words caught my attention and I started a correspondence. She urged me to investigate Kickstart, and offered to help me set up a project and seek funding - to market A Will of Deceit  the way it deserves to be marketed, with video, Amazon optimisation, a BookTok presentation, an audio version, and maybe even a screen play. Ha ha!  I laughed, initially. Then I stopped laughing and started thinking.
What if I actually could market my novels much more effectively? What if I could help my clients market more effectively? There are some great works among the novels I’ve helped others deliver to the world. What if I could help authors whose great works I’ve reviewed on Reedsy or Readers’ Favourite to get more attention? Authors struggle to be noticed, and some truly brilliant novels attract only a handful of readers because authors aren’t marketers. So what if a Kickstart project enabled me to build a community managed by marketers?

I took the first tentative steps today, deciding to reassign a lovely piece of artwork done by GetCovers.com. I had intended to use it as the header on my new Rainbow Works website, but it’s not really suited. A simple rainbow works fine. I decide to use the pen/light pointing at a dark spot on a globe for a website for a community of authors whose works shine a little light in dark places, highlighting injustices and social problems and hopefully nudging the world to do a little better at caring. .

I’d love to hear your opinions and ideas, please!
