With a passion for literature that began in childhood, Lorraine Is dedicated to crafting stories that evoke deep emotions. Delving deep into the hearts and minds of people who live, love and grow in challenging worlds, she strives to create unforgettable characters with intriguing pasts; to cheer unsung heroes; to shine lights in dark corners; to applaud the strength of the human spirit and to expose the amazing power of family love.

‍Born in Armidale, in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia, Lorraine grew up in two vastly different worlds. After her father's accidental death when she was just six weeks old, she spent twelve years growing in a close extended working-class family and tight community in a small and very class-conscious country town. Following her mother's remarriage, she spent her teen years as the step-daughter of a successful and wealthy professional in Manhattan Beach, California. There, a child from a world of barriers was literally set free and urged to fly high. She developed an insatiable appetite for learning about other worlds and other lives and a belief that her nickname implied she was destined to chase rainbows.

‍Educated by an astonishingly diverse range of life experiences, living in four countries and ten cities, Lorraine developed a passion for writing in infancy and spent nearly three decades working as a technical, instructional and business writer. In addition to software tutorials and help files, investment offers, company reports and marketing copy, she ghost wrote over two dozen non-fiction books on topics as diverse as tax minimisation and asset protection, home renovation, child health and body building. In semi-retirement, she has focused on fiction and creative non-fiction, authoring dozens of short stories, a children’s book and three novels. She is now writing a memoir.

‍Lorraine is an avid reader and reviews for Readers Favorite and Reedsy. She  loves to support emerging authors with critiques and publishing help.

‍A dreamer and romantic, Lorraine lives, with her husband of 50+ years, on small acreage in far north Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Apart from reading and writing, she loves sewing, singing in a choir, gardening, bush and beach walks, travel and spending time with three amazing adult children and five adored grandchildren.
